Our horseback camp, located at Harmony Horse Stables in Littleton, Massachusetts, is a unique and extremely popular program that is open to all levels of riders from beginner through advanced. Harmony Horse Stables is a first class equestrian training facility, with 2 outdoor riding rings and an indoor arena.
Horseback camp is divided into two periods that equate to a 9:00am-4:00pm schedule. Mornings are spent at the stables, where campers have the opportunity to learn horsemanship skills and have a riding lesson. Later in the afternoon, campers return to the campus where they can enjoy the other many diverse activities of our Junior Discovery and Teen Exploration programs.
No experience with horses is needed. Those with experience can be up to trotting independently. Riders will be learning how to walk, trot, steer, and jump small jumps while riding in groups. This will be with or without assistance depending on the level of the rider. Students should not expect to do any canter work. Activities are introductory to horses and focus on having fun with the basics.
Campers in our horseback program receive a riding lesson each day until Friday when they have an opportunity to display those skills for parents in our “riding show.” At the show, campers receive ribbons for their performances as well as a certificate indicating their level. The show is also designed as an opportunity for parents to meet with their children’s instructors.
If your child is unsure whether or not he or she would enjoy a full week of horseback camp, we suggest they try a horseback lesson at Harmony Horse Stables.
